  • Student Achievement Dance Scholarship

The Department of Dance offers scholarships to CONTINUING STUDENTS who have demonstrated consistent contribution to the Department and have made significant progress in dance and related studies.  These awards are one-time awards. Students may re-apply each year.



In order to be eligible, students must meet the following criteria:


  1. Maintain full-time enrollment at UNCC

  2. Maintain status as a Dance or Dance Education Major for 2012-2013

  3. Maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher

  4. Demonstrate consistent substantive engagement in the dance department.


Students must complete the following by 12:00 noon Tuesday March 16, 2012.


Please submit an application to the Department Office to Melanie White that includes:


a letter describing how your participation in specific dance department activities have shaped your interest in furthering your growth in performance, choreography, dance education, and/or dance advocation.

a current resume

a copy of your current transcript




Expectations for recipients of the award:

Required to audition for dance department performances for the Fall and Spring concerts, and if not cast, to work on the concert in some capacity with the exception of dance education majors who are student teaching.


Expected to act as goodwill ambassadors or assistants in all dance related events, i.e scholarship auditions, guest artist residencies, student performances, faculty concerts, dance faculty searches, mentoring incoming freshmen, and/or participate as a demonstrator for technique classes.


Work for two hours a week in the Dance department office with the dance administrator.
