The School of Architecture will conduct a day-long "open house" during Fall 2009 that will allow applicants to tour the School and the Urban Studio / Design+ Society Research Center (D+SRC) in SouthEnd, meet with faculty and students in the program, as well as to have the opportunity to ask questions about the application process. The schedule of events will begin at 10:00 am and continue throughout the day. Those interested in attending should RSVP Reedena Newlon at rwnewlon@uncc.edu at least one week prior to the event. This open house experience is offered on or about November 12, 2009.

During the Fall of 2009, the MUD program and the D+SRC will be conducting research with the Centralina Council of Governments and the Regional CONNECT Environmental Cabinet on the specific costs and benefits of compact, mixed-use and walkable development patterns versus low-density, car-dominated suburban growth. This research will help provide factual information for elected officials and planning commissioners in judging the merits of planned new developments in their communities.
